Service Description

SCHOOL AGE School age children are provided a safe and nurturing environment that is designed to promote social interaction, physical development, and cognitive growth.  Activities include opportunities for individual and group participation, while providing a balance between child-initiated and staff directed activities.  School age children are offered quiet time for rest and relaxation, reading, journaling, and academics.  They are also offered opportunities to participate in experiences such as arts and crafts, dramatic play, small and large group games, and outdoor play.  Character development is emphasized in an effort to instill traits such as responsibility, self-discipline, honesty, perseverance, fairness, respect, integrity, caring, and citizenship.  Our program offers Before and After School Care, and a Summer Camp for children ages 5 years to 12 years.  Local public schools provide transportation upon request, including Rural Hall Elementary School, Julian Gibson Elementary School, Old Town Elementary School, Old Richmond Elementary School, North Hills Elementary School, Northwest Middle School, and Hanes Middle School.  To find out if your child’s school will provide a bus stop at our facility, you will need to contact the principal of their school.  Planned homework time is balanced with recreational activities for an enriching and fun after school experience.  Children can enroll in Before School Only, After School Only, and Before and After School Care.  We also offer care for school age children during school breaks, teacher workdays, bad weather days, and school holidays (when not observed by the facility).  Children enrolled in our Summer Camp participate in weekly field trips, special presentations, and speakers teaching children about our community.
